Begging for money vs. Running a business
Lately, some people have been getting on my case because they see me as begging for money.
Yeah, no, I don’t accept that interpretation. This is a business. Even back in April when I asked for money without making an offer, there was still an implied offer.
In fact, it’s why I started this business: to make money by having honest conversations with real human beings.
Some of those conversations are about piano, some about meditation, some about marketing, and some about communication.
The way I see it, the human beings on this list are the ones who pay my bills, just like Amazon’s customers pay Amazon’s bills. Since you’re on the list, I assume you see it the same way.
So, I need more money. My car insurance will be canceled if I can’t get $150 by midnight tonight. It sucks being under this much pressure, but I’m glad I have this list as a resource.
Regarding the folks I mentioned at the beginning of this email, I’m asking myself:
What part of me attracted those people?
Should I lean into it or change it?
Do I push those people away or draw them closer?
When all is said and done, will they end up being my BEST clients?
Or, are they distracting me from finding my best clients?
I dunno, but there’s only one way to find out.
Glad to have you aboard.

P.S. Also, I literally can’t afford the $11.99 I need to renew my domain name lol. In the meantime, please send emails to michael.j.korman@gmail.com, NOT michael@michaelkorman.com. Replying to this Substack email should work fine, though.
P.P.S. I believe sending PayPal to michael@michaelkorman.com should still work.
